Lille Torungen Lighthouse

Granite was the material of choice for lighthouses when Lille and Store Torungen were built in 1844. Local stone being of poor quality, 750 000 bricks were ordered from a afar. Some 100 Lighthouse Service men toiled for two years constructing the two towers. 70 years later, the bricks and other equipment had become so weakened that Lille Torungen was deactivated.
