1984-97: Restoration and rehabilitation

In the 1960s all the building at Lindesnes had been faced with asbestos plates to save on maintenance costs.

This was neither environmentally friendly nor pleasing to look at. Coopera- tion with the County Conservation Officer, however, provided funds for job-creation programmes in rehabilitation. This allowed for the removal of the asbestos and restoration of the buildings to their former appearance. In 1987 The foghorn is taken out of ordinary use.
