1759: Andreas Chrystie

Bornholm dies in 1759, 60 years of age, unmarried and childless.
Andreas Chrystie, a merchant from Moss, then applies to the King to take over the privilege“for the sake of my virtuous wife and eight children”, as is written in the application.

He was born in Scotland, came to Brevik in 1717 and moved to Moss in 1726 where he operated a malt-house and a distillery under Royal Privilege before he also becomes Inspector of Lighthouses in return for a payment of 2 000 Riksdaler per year to the King.

Andreas Chrystie dies however, in 1760, and his wife Marjorie takes over responsibility for the lights.
