In 1708 the Danish Admiralty advises that the lighthouse at Lindesnes be re-established.There has been an immense increase in shipping and in shipwrecks. But the King hesitates
Perhaps he was too busy fighting The Great Northern War (1700-1721), or perhaps previous history made him wary, or perhaps it was merely a question of finding The right man for the job.
When the King reached his decision the choice was for Jørgen Michelsen Bornholm, who could now enjoy a twenty-year privilege to operate a light at Lindesnes.
But there had to be two light flares, a so-called twin lighthouse, to avoid confusion between Lindesnes and Skagen.
Both lights were lit for the first time on 1 February 1725.
