1725: Jørgen Michelsen Bornholm

was a citizen of Stømsøe (Drammen)
who dealt in the Spanish trade with a ship that was later wrecked at Lindesnes.

He owned a farm in Slagen,Vestfold county, and started a saltwork there having also applied for a Royal Privilege to operate it.

Before receiving the lighthouse privilege, he worked actively for several years to show the Admiralty and the King not only the need for a lighthouse, but also his own abilities as manager.

He gets Dutch and English sea captains to sign a missive confirming the necessity of a lighthouse at the Naze.

He collects information about all the shipwrecks in Lister and Mandal County and then calculates the annual losses of revenue suffered by the King caused by the lack of a lighthouse.

He submits a budget for investments and annual operating costs,
calculates profits and offers the King a fourth part of the lighthouse tax, also promising to donate 50 Riksdaler annually to the church at Kongsberg, site of the Royal Silver Works.
